Legal

MicroCerts (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website and mobile application (collectively, the “Service”). Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree with its terms, please discontinue use of the Service.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Account information — name, email address, and password when you register for an account.
  • Profile information — optional details such as your profession or area of study.
  • Contact information — messages you send us through the contact form.
  • Payment & billing information — when you subscribe to a paid plan, we process your payment via a QR-code payment flow through our backend and payment provider; we do not directly collect or store your card, bank account, or mobile wallet credentials on our servers. We retain billing records such as plan, amount, currency, date, and payment status to generate invoices and manage your subscription.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage data — pages visited, course and module progress, quiz attempts and results, time spent studying, certificates earned, and features used within the Service.
  • Device & log data — IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, and timestamps.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account and deliver the Service.
  • Track and display your course progress and certification achievements.
  • Process subscription payments, manage your billing status, and generate invoices.
  • Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support.
  • Send transactional emails (e.g. account verification, certificate issuance).
  • Analyse usage trends to improve the Service.
  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations.

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes.

3. Sharing of Information

We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers — trusted vendors who help us operate the Service (e.g. hosting, analytics, email delivery) and who are contractually bound to keep your data confidential.
  • Payment processing — limited transaction data (amount, plan, currency, and order status) is shared with our payment processing partner(s) solely to generate your payment QR code and confirm whether it was paid.
  • Legal requirements — when required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
  • Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
  • With your consent — for any other purpose with your explicit consent.

4. Cookies & Local Storage

We do not use cookies to keep you signed in. After you log in, your session is kept using an authentication token stored in your browser’s local storage, which is used only to keep you signed in and is cleared when you log out. Your language selection (English/Urdu) is not stored or persisted anywhere — it resets to English on every page load.

We also use Google Tag Manager and associated analytics tools to understand how users interact with the Service. These tools may set their own cookies. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us (see Section 8). We may retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes after deletion, including billing and invoice records, which we retain for as long as required by applicable tax and accounting laws.

6. Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Your Rights & Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your personal information.
  • Object to or restrict our processing of your data.
  • Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at info@microcerts.io.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
